Treatment of Alzheimer Disease

Treatment of Alzheimer Disease

In terms of treatment of Alzheimer disease, no treatment method with special effect has been found yet. At present, treatment mainly lies in the following two aspects: traditional treatment and stem cell treatment.

Traditional treatment of Alzheimer disease

Traditional treatment includes drugs treatment and rehabilitation treatment.
Drug treatment
Currently, there are many kinds of drugs for treating Alzheimer disease. Research experience points out that patients have significant difference in reaction to certain drug and this difference is related to the following factors: AD onset period, degree of dementia (early period, medium or advanced stage), degree of brain impairment, hereditary factor and drug reaction existing in individuals.

Rehabilitation treatment
1.                 Occupational therapy: On the basis of the functional disorder of patients, select some activities that patients are interested in and can help them to restore functions and skills, and ask patients to carry on training as required, such as building blocks, jigsaw, calligraphy, painting and knitting. Make patients concentrate their attentions, increase concentration and memory, improve physical strength and patience, increase sense of fun and rebuild confidence to life.

2. Physical exercise therapy: There is evidence of that activation of neuron plays a protection role in degenerative changes of aging and Alzheimer disease. Physical exercise can stimulate neurons and promote recovery of functions so it also is effective treatment method.

As Alzheimer disease is progressive, the above methods can only stabilize the disease temporarily but can’t guarantee no deterioration phenomena. Experts of Guangzhou Meyo Stem Cell Hospital point out that stem cell therapy is a more effective method for the moment and can fundamentally treat Alzheimer disease.

Principles of stem cell therapy on Alzheimer disease

Stem cell is one kind of undifferentiated cell and has the potentiality of self-replication and to differentiate into multiple functional cells. Injecting stem cells through artery intervention and taking advantage of stem cells to differentiate nerve cells with complete functions to replace necrosis and damaged nerve cells so as to achieve the object of treating Alzheimer disease.

What are the advantages of stem cell treating Alzheimer disease?

1.                 Short treatment course: It only needs three months for one course by using stem cells to treat Alzheimer disease

A course includes three times of stem cell transplantation operation and the interval time between twice stem cell transplantation operation is 8-25 days. Compared with long time treatment method such as drug therapy and dietary therapy, stem cell therapy has short treatment course.
2.                 Significant effect: 75% of all patients with Alzheimer disease are improved obviously after stem cell therapy

According to clinical statistic data, 75% patients with Alzheimer disease have different degrees of improvement in cognitive disorder, language disorder and other symptoms. After two courses of stem cell transplantation therapy averagely, patients’ symptoms are obviously improved.

3.                 Safe and reliable: Stem cells have no side effects in treating Alzheimer disease

Stem cells have no side effect and low immunity and rarely have immunological rejection. The operation adopts minimally invasive technique rather than a surgery. It has no pain and quick effect.

4. Stem cells have rich source and wide therapeutic scope

Adult stem cells are commonly found in multiple organs of human body and main sources include bone marrow stem cell, peripheral blood stem cells and umbilical cord blood stem cells.

Through stem cell therapy, patients with Alzheimer disease get improvement from every aspects.
